2026: A Full Day at Obu Midori Park Splash Pond
A full day of play close to home, built around the Obu Midori Park Splash Pond in Obu City. This water-play area is open year-round on a fiscal-year basis (April 1 to March 31), and fiscal 2026 will run according to the same cleaning calendar. A fountain rises about five meters from the tiled plaza, and simply ducking through the spray is enough to delight children. Admission is free, and the park also has a barbecue area and a management office. Note that the fountain does not run on the management building's closed days (Mondays, or the following day when Monday is a public holiday), and the area is unavailable on cleaning days (Mondays 9:00-12:00 and Thursdays 9:00-11:00, 40 days a year), so planning around Mondays is the safest bet. Spend the morning shopping and having lunch at JA Agri Town Genki no Sato, lined with local produce, then spend the afternoon at the Obu City Museum of History and Folklore and Okura Park getting a feel for the history of this town at the base of the Chita Peninsula (知多半島). Finish with water play beneath the fountain. Every stop is only a few minutes apart by car, so it makes for an easy day even with small children.
