2026: A Full Day at Kariya Traffic Children's Park Splash Fountain Pool
A full day of play close to home, built around the Splash Fountain Pool at Kariya Traffic Children's Park in Kariya City. In 2026 it opens on Monday, June 1, and water play is available until Wednesday, September 30, from 9:00 to 16:00. Both admission and water play are free; only the large playground equipment costs 50 yen per ride. Diaper-changing beds, a nursing room, an AED, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom are all in place, so it is an easy place to spend time even with a baby. The park is closed on Wednesdays (the following day when Wednesday is a public holiday), and it is suspended on Thursday, August 6, for facility repairs, so plan around that one date. Spend the morning at the Kariya City Local History Museum, housed in a schoolhouse designated a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, getting a feel for old classrooms and life in Kariya. Neighboring Kijo Park is the site of Kariya Castle, where walking among the remnants of earthworks and moat gives you a sense of how the town came to be. For lunch, spread out a bento on the lawn at Mississauga Park, created as a token of friendship with Mississauga, Canada. Then in the afternoon, it is finally time to send the spray flying at the splash fountain pool. Every stop is only a few minutes apart by car, so it makes for an easy day even with small children.
Schedule
Touch old Kariya inside a former schoolhouse listed as a cultural property
Walk the earthworks and moat of the Kariya Castle site
Spread a sheet on the lawn and break for a bento lunch
Play until evening in the spray of the fountain pool
