2026 Yokogoshi Park Stream Full-Day Course
The Yokogoshi Park Stream (babbling water channel) in Konan Ward, Niigata City, is a free water play spot that runs as a narrow channel through a district park of 49,274 square meters. The operating period has not been announced; in most years the water flows in summer. Please check the current year's status on the official Niigata City page before you set out. Besides the stream, the park has a play plaza with equipment for toddlers, a covered plaza with a combination play structure, a man-made hill with a slide, a multipurpose plaza, park paths and an arbor. Thanks to the covered plaza and the arbor, you are never at a loss for somewhere to escape the sun, which is one of this park's reassuring points. In the morning, head to the Northern Culture Museum (北方文化博物館) in Somi, Konan Ward. Walking the sprawling residence and garden of the wealthy landowning Ito family (伊藤家), you can feel the depth of a way of life built on rice growing in the Niigata Plain (新潟平野). After lunch, loosen up at Kameda Park (亀田公園), then move on to Yokogoshi Park in the afternoon. Step into the narrow channel and walk upstream and downstream, and when you tire, switch to the play equipment in the covered plaza before returning to the water. It is an outing course typical of Konan Ward, linking history and water play in a single day.
