2026 Full-Day Course at the Water Play Area of Senshu Childcare Station Park
The Water Play Area in the park at Senshu Childcare Station 「Tekuteku」 in Nagaoka City is a free water-play spot located where a park and a childcare support facility are combined. The city of Nagaoka describes it officially as a place that also has a space where you can enjoy slides, a sandpit and water play. The opening period has not been announced, but in past years it has run through the summer. The childcare station is open from 9:00 to 18:00 and closed every Wednesday, so check the day of the week before deciding when to visit. The 20,000-square-metre park has a grassy mound, a stream and a tunnel, and thanks to the covered plaza you will not lose your place to play on strongly sunny days or in sudden rain. The childcare station also offers paid temporary childcare, so the facility is designed for families with infants to stay a long time. In the morning, visit the Nagaoka Municipal Science Museum (長岡市立科学博物館), which is within walking distance. Its exhibits cover Nagaoka's nature and history in one place, letting you learn while staying cool. After lunch, stop by the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art (新潟県立近代美術館) and make time to face real paintings in a quiet gallery. In the afternoon, return to Tekuteku and play in the water until evening. It is a day only the Senshu area of Nagaoka City can offer, where learning and play are linked within walking distance.
