2026 Ebara Minami Park Mist-Spraying Rock Hill: A Full Day Course
Ebara Minami Park (荏原南公園) in Shinagawa City (品川区) has a rock-hill play structure that sprays mist, and it is a firm favourite with children in summer. This Ebara Minami Park Mist-Spraying Rock Hill (Water Play) sprays mist for five minutes every 30 minutes, and because it is integrated with an artificial-turf plaza, children can run right through the white mist. For 2026 the expected period is roughly Wed, July 1 to Wed, September 30, from 9:00 to 16:30, but the city's official wording each year says only that it operates until around autumn, without stating an end date. Check the operating status on the Shinagawa City official page before you set out. The venue is Ebara Minami Park in Shinagawa City, which also has large combination playground equipment, a sandpit and a multi-purpose plaza. Admission is free. In the morning you look out over the Western-style building and pond at Bunko-no-Mori, laid out on the former site of the Mitsui Bunko (三井文庫) archive, then walk the Japanese garden of Togoshi Park (戸越公園), created on the former lower residence of the Hosokawa family of the Kumamoto domain (熊本藩細川家). Lunch is a stroll-and-eat affair along the roughly 1.3-kilometre Togoshi Ginza Shopping Street (戸越銀座商店街). In the afternoon you play in the mist at the Ebara Minami Park Mist-Spraying Rock Hill (Water Play) until 16:30. It is a day you can cover entirely on foot, linking gardens with a shopping street that feels very much like old-town Shinagawa (品川).
