2026 Hatagaya Shindo Park Water Play Facility: A Full Day Course
Hatagaya Shindo Park in Shibuya Ward has a free summer-only water play area, the Hatagaya Shindo Park Water Play Facility. In 2026 it is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Thursday, September 24, from 9:00 to 17:00. It cannot be used on Wednesday afternoons, which are cleaning days, and hours may change depending on weather conditions. The venue is Hatagaya Shindo Park in Shibuya Ward, set within a residential neighborhood within walking distance of Hatagaya Station and Hatsudai Station (初台駅) on the Keio Line. Food and drink may not be brought in and pets may not enter the water, so finish lunch elsewhere before heading over. In the morning, visit Yoyogi Hachimangu Shrine (代々木八幡宮), where a Jomon-period pit dwelling has been reconstructed, and savor the summer morning air in the quiet precinct atop the hill. From there move to Tokyo Opera City in Hatsudai, view the works at the art gallery, and have lunch in the building. Indoors with the air conditioning, you can conserve your energy. In the afternoon, head to the Hatagaya Shindo Park Water Play Facility for plenty of water play until the 17:00 closing. Linking three stretches of time with very different characters, shrine, art and water play, this makes for a day that feels distinctly like northern Shibuya Ward.
Schedule
