2026 Honcho Park Water Play Facility Full-Day Course

Honcho Park in Shibuya Ward (渋谷区) has a free water-play area open only in summer, the Honcho Park Water Play Facility (Splash Area). In 2026 it opens from Wednesday 1 July to Thursday 24 September, 9:00-17:00. It cannot be used on Wednesday mornings, which are cleaning days, and the schedule may change depending on weather conditions. The venue is Honcho Park in Shibuya Ward, within walking distance of the high-rise districts of Hatsudai and Nishi-Shinjuku. Food and drink may not be brought in and pets may not enter the water, so finish lunch elsewhere before you come. In the morning, take in the view over Tokyo from the free observatory of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, where the scene below sends children's excitement soaring. From there, walk down to Shinjuku Central Park (新宿中央公園) for a bento beside the artificial waterfall known as Niagara Falls. Eating to the sound of falling water feels strangely cool even in midsummer. In the afternoon, move to the Honcho Park Water Play Facility (Splash Area) and play in the water until it closes at 17:00. Splashing about at the foot of the skyscrapers makes for a summer day only the city centre can offer. All the travel is on foot or by short train rides, so the course is easy to put together without a car.
