2026 Honmachi Sakura Park Water Play Facility Full-Day Course
Honmachi Sakura Park in Shibuya Ward has a free water play facility, the ‘Honmachi Sakura Park Water Play Facility (Splash Pad),’ that's open only in summer. In 2026 it runs from Wednesday, July 1 to Thursday, September 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It's closed on Wednesday afternoons for cleaning, and hours may change depending on weather conditions. It's located at Honmachi Sakura Park in Shibuya Ward, within walking distance of Hatsudai Station and the high-rise district of Nishi-Shinjuku. Food, drinks, and pets are not allowed in the water, so it's recommended to have lunch elsewhere before heading over. In the morning, visit the NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] in Hatsudai. Many of the media art works, which react to sound and light, are ones children can experience with their own bodies, making it feel more like a lab than an art museum. For lunch, move to Shinjuku Central Park and spread out a picnic near the Water Plaza or on the lawn. In the afternoon, enjoy plenty of water play at the Honmachi Sakura Park Water Play Facility (Splash Pad) until it closes at 5:00 p.m. It's a day in the city center that links two completely different experiences — indoor art and outdoor splashing — into one.
