2026 Ebisu Higashi Park Water Play Facility: A Full Day Course
Ebisu Higashi Park (恵比寿東公園) in Shibuya Ward has a free summer-only water play area, the Ebisu Higashi Park Water Play Facility. In 2026 it is open from Wednesday 1 July to Thursday 24 September, from 9:00 to 17:00. It cannot be used on Wednesday mornings, the weekly cleaning day, and hours may change depending on the weather. The venue is Ebisu Higashi Park in Shibuya Ward, known affectionately by locals as Octopus Park after its large octopus-shaped play sculpture. Besides the water feature, the park has swings, a sandpit, horizontal bars and a lawn area, so the fun does not stop when you get out of the water. Food and drink may not be brought in and pets may not enter the water, so have lunch nearby before you go. In the morning, look in on the Kokugakuin University Museum (國學院大學博物館) with its archaeology and Shinto materials, then visit Shibuya Hikawa Shrine (渋谷氷川神社), a quiet pocket left in the middle of Shibuya. At midday, move to Yebisu Garden Place for a meal and stay on for the photography and video exhibitions at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum (東京都写真美術館). In the afternoon, play in the water at the Ebisu Higashi Park Water Play Facility until it closes at 17:00. Linked together on foot through the streets of Ebisu, it makes a neighbourhood outing that adults will enjoy too.
