2026 Kamata 1-chome Park Water Play Area: A Full One-Day Course
Kamata 1-chome Park in Ota Ward has a free waterside facility with a stream and a pond, the Kamata 1-chome Park Water Play Area (waterside facility). In 2026 it is scheduled to open from Thursday 4/30 until around Wednesday 9/30, from 10:00 to 16:00. The closing date is not announced officially by the ward, so the end of September is the usual guide. It closes on the regular cleaning days of 7/29, 8/7, 8/14 and 8/27, so keep those in mind when choosing your date. The water is filtered and disinfected but is not drinkable. The venue is Kamata 1-chome Park in Ota Ward, in a town area within walking distance of JR Kamata Station. Admission is free. In the morning, visit the Ota City Museum of Local History, where folk tools used in nori seaweed making and materials on the Magome Writers' Village (馬込文士村) show how Ota Ward came to be. Next, pray at Kamata Hachiman Shrine, then have lunch at the commercial complex in front of the station. In the afternoon, play in the water at the Kamata 1-chome Park Water Play Area until it closes at 16:00. With both a stream and a pond, children can walk and play or crouch and play, whichever suits their age. It is an easy outing in true Kamata style, done entirely by train and on foot.
