2026 Shimomaruko Park Water Play Area: Full-Day Enjoyment Course
Shimomaruko Park (下丸子公園) in Ota City has a free waterfront facility with a stream and pond, the Shimomaruko Park Water Play Area (Waterfront Facility) (下丸子公園 水遊び場(親水施設)). In 2026, it's scheduled to be open from Thursday, April 30 to around Wednesday, September 30, from 10:00 to 16:00, and can be used from 9:00 during the summer break period, July 24 to August 24. The closing date is not officially announced by the ward, so late September is a rough guide based on past years. It's closed for regular cleaning on August 3, August 12, and August 20, so be mindful of these when setting your schedule. The water is filtered and disinfected, but not drinkable. The venue is Shimomaruko Park in Ota City, within walking distance of Shimomaruko Station (下丸子駅) on the Tokyu Tamagawa Line. Admission is free. In the morning, head to Shimomaruko Library, inside Ota City Resident Plaza. Choose a book from the children's book corner and spend a relaxed time in the cool interior. For lunch, head out to the Tama River's Gasu Bridge Green Space, and eat a bento on the wide riverbank while feeling the river breeze. The sky opens up wide, letting you see all the way to the opposite bank. In the afternoon, enjoy plenty of water play at Shimomaruko Park Water Play Area (Waterfront Facility) until it closes at 16:00. This makes for a calm, quintessentially Shimomaruko day connecting the library, the river, and water play.
