2026 Full-Day Course: Kobushi Children's Park Water Flow Facility
Centered on the 'Kobushi Children's Park Water Flow Facility' in western Utsunomiya, this is a one-day course that also takes in the birthplace of Oya stone and a roadside station. According to the City of Utsunomiya, in the 2026 season water flows from Saturday, July 18 through Sunday, August 30, from 10:00 to 16:00. Use is free, and besides the water flow facility there are combination play equipment and a sandbox, so there's plenty to do even if you tire of the water. The facility is scheduled to close for regular cleaning on July 30 and August 27, so plan around those dates. Bare feet are not allowed in the water, so be sure to bring sandals or other footwear. In the morning, head to Oya History Museum. The huge former underground quarry is chilly and cool, a uniquely Utsunomiya place where you'd never guess how hot it is outside. Next, at Oyaji Temple, press your hands together before the stone Buddha carved into the rock face and look up at the tall Peace Kannon nearby. For lunch, move to Michi-no-Eki Utsunomiya Romantic Village to eat and shop while browsing local produce. In the afternoon, return to Kobushi Children's Park and enjoy the splashing water at the water flow facility until evening.
