2026 Tokamae Park (十日前公園) Water Flow Facility Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course centered on the Tokamae Park (十日前公園) Water Flow Facility in the Shukugo area of Utsunomiya City, combining the history of the town center with a department-store meal. According to the City of Utsunomiya, in the 2026 season the water runs from July 18 (Sat) through August 30 (Sun), from 10:00 to 16:00. Admission is free, and besides the water flow facility there is combination play equipment and a pavilion (azumaya), so you can play while resting in the shade. It's about a 17-minute walk from Higashi-Shukugo Stop on the Utsunomiya Light Rail, a nice feature that means you can plan the whole day without a car. It is scheduled to close for regular cleaning on July 29 and August 27, so plan around those days. Bare feet are not allowed in the water, so be sure to bring sandals or other footwear. In the morning, visit the former Shinohara family residence (旧篠原家住宅), a Meiji-era merchant house, to see its Oya stone and black plaster buildings, then climb the stone steps at Utsunomiya Futaarayama Shrine (宇都宮二荒山神社) to pay your respects. For lunch, sit down and eat at your own pace at a restaurant in Tobu Utsunomiya Department Store (東武宇都宮百貨店), then spend the afternoon at Tokamae Park in the spray of the water until evening.
