2026 Sabae City Pool Shinsui Plaza (親水広場) Full-Day Course
A course centered on Sabae City's 'Sabae City Pool Shinsui Plaza (鯖江市民プール 親水広場)' that lets you enjoy a full day in the town of glasses. Shinsui Plaza is a newly developed water-play area created through the 2026 (Reiwa 8) renovation; following the completion of construction work, it reopened on Friday, July 31, and is available through Monday, August 31. The regular season normally runs from July 1 to August 31. During the summer-vacation period from July 21 to August 29, individual-use hours are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and a two-part schedule of 10:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays; on August 30 and 31, weekday use is not available. The same facility also has a 25-meter pool, a toddler pool, and a straight slide, so in a single day you can enjoy both the fun of swimming and the relaxed pleasure of playing in the shallow Shinsui Plaza. Admission is reasonably priced at 100 yen per visit for those aged 3 through high-school students, and 200 yen per visit for adults. In the morning, visit the Glasses Museum (めがねミュージアム), known as a mecca for eyewear, to experience Sabae's history of eyeglass-making and the skill of its craftsmen. After that, meet red pandas at Nishiyama Zoo (西山動物園), said to be Japan's smallest zoo, and have lunch at Michi-no-Eki Nishiyama Park (道の駅 西山公園). In the afternoon, move to the pool and enjoy water play at Shinsui Plaza until evening.
