2026 Fukuoka Prefectural Chikuho Green Park Waterside Plaza Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course centered on the 'Prefectural Chikuho Green Park Waterside Plaza (Children's Pool)' (県営筑豊緑地 水辺の広場・幼児プール) in Iizuka City. Located in a relaxing spot overlooking Torio Pond (鳥尾池), it's a seasonal water play area for young children, opened during summer vacation by drawing in water from a mountain stream to use as a children's pool. For 2026, it is expected to run from around Tuesday, July 21 to around Monday, August 31, but the park's official information only states 'during summer vacation' without giving specific dates, so it's best to check with the park management office (0948-82-1023) before heading out. Admission to the park is free, and near the Waterside Plaza there are combination playground equipment and a lawn plaza, so you can move back and forth between the water and the play equipment (there are also separate paid indoor and outdoor pools within the same park). Since the water is drawn from a mountain stream, it can feel cooler than a tap-water pool. In the morning, visit the Former Ito Denemon Residence (旧伊藤伝右衛門邸), which conveys life from the era when Iizuka thrived on coal mining, and get a sense of how the city of Iizuka came to be. For lunch, spread out a bento on the lawn plaza of the green park, and in the afternoon, play in the children's pool by the pond until evening. It's a day distinctly Iizuka in character, where history and nature are closely connected.
Schedule

Walk through a grand mansion and garden from the coal-mining era
Spread out a bento on the lawn and get active on the play equipment
Play in the seasonal children's pool filled with mountain stream water
