2026 Museum Park Ibaraki Nature Museum Water Plaza: A Full-Day Course
Centered on the 'Museum Park Ibaraki Nature Museum Water Plaza (ミュージアムパーク茨城県自然博物館水の広場)', part of the outdoor facilities of the large nature museum spreading along the shore of Lake Suo (菅生沼) in Bando City, this course is a full day of play. In fiscal year 2026, it is scheduled to be open from July 20 through the end of September, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Built to take advantage of the valley-wetland terrain called 'yatsu', the facility has a channel flowing down a slope that creates a shallow stream, with a fountain at the upstream end. Since the site was originally developed to observe the flow of water, what makes it interesting is that, beyond just playing, you can watch with your own eyes how water moves from high ground to low ground. Use of the Water Plaza is free; you only need the museum admission fee or the outdoor facility usage fee to play here. In the morning, trace the history of Earth and life through the exhibits in the main building; around lunchtime, walk along the shore of Lake Suo; and in the afternoon, head to the Water Plaza. This summer outing lets learning and water play come together in a single day, all within one facility.
