2026 Isahaya Kantaku no Sato Splash Channel One-Day Full Course
This is a one-day course, entirely within Isahaya City, centered on the Isahaya Kantaku no Sato Splash Channel. In 2026 it is open daily except closure days from Saturday, July 18 through Monday, August 31, and in September only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays through Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 to 16:30. The channel is fed by groundwater, so it stays refreshingly cool even in midsummer, and since it has no depth to speak of, even small children can wade across on their own two feet. Admission has been free since April 1, 2026, so water play, the Mutsugoro Aquarium, and the reclamation-history museum on the grounds can all be enjoyed for a full day at no cost. There's an indoor rest house on the grounds where you can cool off and spread out a picnic lunch if it gets hot. In the morning, take in Isahaya's history and art at the Isahaya City Museum of Art and History, then move on to Isahaya Park to cross the Meganebashi Bridge, a nationally Important Cultural Property. From midday, head to Isahaya Kantaku no Sato. Watch mudskippers that live on the Ariake Sea tidal flats at the aquarium, then it's finally time for water play at the splash channel in the afternoon. History, wildlife, and water play all come together in one day — a very Isahaya kind of outing.
