2026 Kudoyama Town Pool One-Day Course
This one-day course centers on Kudoyama Town Pool in Kudoyama, Wakayama Prefecture, open from Saturday, July 18 to Thursday, August 20, 2026. This municipal outdoor pool sits in a quiet town at the foot of Koyasan, where the Kinokawa and Niukawa rivers meet; admission is 200 yen for 4th graders and up, and free for 3rd graders and younger. It's an irreplaceable summer-vacation spot for local children. In the morning, visit Jison-in, a component asset of the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range' and the entrance to the main approach to Koyasan, and take in the quiet of this old temple. Next, trace the Sengoku-era story at Sanada-an (Zenmyoshoin), said to be the site of the residence where Sanada Yukimura lived in seclusion, and the Kudoyama Sanada Museum, then have lunch at Roadside Station Kaki no Sato Kudoyama while browsing goods themed around Kudoyama's famous persimmons. In the afternoon, head to Kudoyama Town Pool. Swimming in the clear mountain air feels completely different from an urban pool. Note that the pool is closed on Mondays, so plan your schedule accordingly.
