2026 Aoki Children's Pool Full-Day Course

This is a one-day course centered on Aoki Children's Pool (檍児童プール) in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, open from Thursday, July 23 to Monday, August 24, 2026. The pool is open only in the morning, from 10:00 to 12:00, and is closed on Wednesdays and from August 13 to 15. Measuring 10m by 20m with water depths of 30cm and 50cm, this children's pool is free to use, making it an ideal spot for small children who aren't yet used to the water to try splashing around for the first time. Since the pool is only open in the morning, this course gets moving early. Start with a visit to Eda Shrine (江田神社), a site tied to Japanese mythology, and head to Misogi Pond (御池) deep within its grounds. This mythical setting, where the god Izanagi is said to have performed purification rites, is wrapped in mystical stillness in the morning light. Next, walk through the neighboring Awakigahara Forest Park Citizens' Forest (阿波岐原森林公園 市民の森) and enjoy the morning air among the pines, then head to Aoki Children's Pool in time for its 10 a.m. opening. A mythical morning followed by a splash-filled late morning: a densely packed half-day, distinctly Miyazaki.
