2026 Sekinoo Park Pool: A Full Day Course
This is a one-day course centered on Sekinoo Park Pool (関之尾公園プール) in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, which opens each year from mid-July through the end of August (in 2026 it opens on Saturday, July 18). Located inside Sekinoo Park right next to Sekinoo Falls, one of Japan's 100 Best Waterfalls, the pool's biggest feature is that it uses well water sourced from the Kirishima mountain range. The crisp, clear feel of the water, so different from tap water, is unforgettable once you've experienced it. With a 25-meter pool and a kids' pool equipped with a water slide, siblings of different ages can each enjoy it their own way. In the morning, view Sekinoo Falls (関之尾滝), which roars and sends up spray, from the observation deck, then walk through the Sekinoo Potholes (関之尾の甌穴群), said to be one of the largest formations of its kind in the world, where the riverbed rock is carved with countless mysterious hollows. After lunch, head to Sekinoo Park Pool for the afternoon. Spend a luxurious afternoon swimming in Kirishima's water while listening to the sound of the falls. It's a day to fully savor the nature of Miyakonojo.
