2026 Daikyo Nishikawa Square Pool: A Full Day of Fun
This one-day course centers on Daikyo Nishikawa Square Pool (Hofu City Sports Center Pool) in Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, open from Tuesday, July 21 through Monday, August 31, 2026. With a 25m pool, kiddie pool, lazy river, and water slide, its lineup feels far richer than you'd expect from a municipal facility. Admission is 550 yen for adults and high schoolers, 220 yen for elementary and junior high schoolers, 110 yen for young children (age 4 and up), free for those age 3 and under, and half price for people with disabilities and their caregivers. In the morning, visit Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, known as Japan's first Tenmangu shrine, where a gate atop a stone staircase and views over the town await. Next, head to the Hofu Youth Science Museum SORAL to enjoy hands-on exhibits and a planetarium. Spending the morning in the air-conditioned museum leaves you with plenty of energy for the pool in the afternoon. A fulfilling day connecting Hofu's highlights of history, science, and water play.
