2026 Gokai Pool: A Full-Day Fun Course
This is a one-day course centered on Gokai Pool, Fujikawa Town's outdoor pool in Yamanashi Prefecture, open from 10:00 to 16:00, August 1 (Sat) through August 16 (Sun), 2026. It's the town's outdoor pool, open for just a little over two weeks spanning the Obon holidays of summer vacation, and remarkably, admission is free. It's an unpretentious summer spot that local children ride their bikes to. In the morning, view seasonal fruit such as Fujikawa Town's peaches and grapes at Michi no Eki Fujikawa, and savor local flavors. Next, head to the hilltop Taihoshi Park, overlooking the Fuji River and the Kofu Basin. Known as a cherry blossom spot, the park grounds are wrapped in deep green in summer, and the view from the observation plaza will stay with you as a memory of the day. After lunch, head to Gokai Pool in the afternoon. Enjoy leisurely water play until 16:00 in the clear mountain air. Since it's only open through August 16, a short window, it's a good idea to lock in your schedule early. It's a day for savoring the simple pleasures of a Yamanashi summer.
