2026 Hida City Miyagawa Pool: A Full Day Course
This one-day course centers on Hida City Miyagawa Pool (飛騨市宮川プール) in Miyagawa-cho (宮川町), Hida City, Gifu Prefecture, open on weekdays from Tuesday, July 21 to Tuesday, August 25, 2026. It's open from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last admission 3:00 p.m.), and closed on weekends, national holidays, and August 13-14. The facility consists of a 20-meter pool and a small pool with a fountain and slide, and the fees are remarkably affordable: for Hida City residents, free for junior high school age and under, 110 yen for high school age and up; for non-residents, free for young children, 60 yen for elementary and junior high school age, and 110 yen for high school age and up. Since the pool opens in the afternoon, spend the morning exploring the villages of Miyagawa-cho. Start at the Tanekura settlement (種蔵), where stone-walled terraced fields and itakura storehouses remain. Walking through scenery often called the quintessential Japanese countryside, you'll feel time move differently. Next, head to Ikegahara Marsh (池ヶ原湿原) and take in the highland marsh and mountain ridges from the boardwalk. After savoring plenty of Hida's mountain villages, spend the cool afternoon playing in the pool.
