2026 Hida City Kawai Pool: A Full-Day Course
This is a one-day course in Hida City centered on 'Hida City Kawai Pool (飛騨市河合プール)', open on weekdays from July 21 (Tue) to August 25 (Tue), 2026, 13:00-16:00 (last admission 15:00). Since it's open on weekdays only, it's ideal for families who want to spend a relaxed weekday during summer vacation. In the morning, head to Tsunokawa Station (角川駅) on the JR Takayama Main Line. At this small, unstaffed station in the mountains, standing on the platform conveys the quiet of a valley flanked by a river and mountains. Next, move on to Taneguru (種蔵) in Miyagawa-cho. This village, known for its beauty reminiscent of the archetypal Japanese rural landscape, features stone-walled terraced rice fields stacked on steep slopes, dotted with wooden storehouses called itakura. In the afternoon, head to Kawai Pool (河合プール). It has a 50m pool and a smaller pool with a slide, and is remarkably affordable: free for Hida City residents in junior high school or younger, 110 yen for high schoolers and up; even for visitors from outside the city, free for toddlers, 60 yen for elementary and junior high schoolers, and 110 yen for high schoolers and up. It's a day to walk through Hida's mountain villages and then cool off in clear water.
