2026 Tamashima no Mori Swimming Pool: A Full Day of Fun
This one-day course is centered on Tamashima no Mori Swimming Pool in Kurashiki City, open from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, August 30, 2026. The venue is 'Tamashima no Mori,' a lush urban park. It features a 10-lane outdoor 50-meter pool and a children's pool, so families can enjoy their own pace, from those who want to swim seriously to little ones making their water-play debut. Admission is a surprisingly affordable ticket system: 160 yen for adults, 100 yen for high school students and under. The pricing makes it a pleasure to visit again and again during summer vacation. Note that the third opening period runs only through Wednesday, August 19, so if you're heading out after the Obon holidays, check which opening period applies. In the morning, enjoy the Seto Inland Sea view from Entsuji Park, associated with the monk Ryokan, then walk through Tamashima's old townscape that once flourished with kitamaebune trading ships, before heading to the pool in the afternoon. It's a day that connects Tamashima's history as a thriving port town with water play surrounded by the park's greenery.
