2026 Gotsu Municipal Pool Full-Day Course
This is a one-day course in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture, centered on Gotsu Municipal Pool, which typically opens from Monday, July 20 through Monday, August 31. The venue is Gotsu Chuo Park. In the morning, start at Gotsu Honmachi's Roof Tile Street (甍街道), near the mouth of the Gonokawa River. The old townscape, with its rows of red Sekishu-tile roofs, still preserves the memory of a port town that prospered through shipping on the Sea of Japan and the river. Next, stop by Michi-no-Eki Sun Pico Gotsu for lunch while browsing seafood from the Sea of Japan and local produce. In the afternoon, head to Gotsu Municipal Pool, which has a 50m, eight-lane competitive pool (each lane 2.5m wide, also suitable for water polo) as well as a wading pool with a slide and artificial waterfall - satisfying for both kids who want a serious swim and little ones who just want to splash around. Admission is 110 yen for elementary and junior high students, 220 yen for high schoolers, 440 yen for adults, and 550 yen for young children (accompanied by a guardian), with a 20% discount for groups of 30 or more. Sekishu-tile townscapes, the Sea of Japan, and a full-scale pool - a very Gotsu summer outing.
