2026 Kure City Ondo Pool: A Full-Day Course
This one-day course centers on Kure City Ondo Pool in the Ondo area of Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It typically opens from Monday, July 20 through Monday, August 31, and features an 8-lane pool measuring 25m x 16m with a depth of 1.1-1.3m, plus a kiddie pool measuring 16m x 9m with a depth of 0.7m. Admission is affordable at 200 yen per visit for adults and 100 yen for high schoolers and younger, making it a seaside pool families can visit casually. In the morning, start at the Yamato Museum (Kure Maritime Museum), Kure's symbol. Centered on a 1/10-scale model of the battleship Yamato, the exhibits trace the history of a town that flourished through shipbuilding and steelmaking technology. Next, head to Ondo-no-Seto Park and enjoy the view from the hilltop overlooking the vivid red Ondo Bridge and the ships passing through the narrow strait below. After passing midday, head to Kure City Ondo Pool and enjoy playing in the water until evening, surrounded by the sea.
