2026 Tokamachi City Matsunoyama Pool Full-Day Course
This is a one-day course in Echigo-Matsunoyama centered on the 'Tokamachi City Matsunoyama Pool,' typically open from late July through mid-August, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm (closed 11:30 am to 1:00 pm). The morning starts at Bijinbayashi (Beauty Forest), a grove of beech trees roughly 100 years old standing all in a row. The scenery formed by their slender, straight trunks lives up to the name—simply beautiful. In summer the leaves grow thick, filling the forest with cool air. Next comes Kyororo, the Echigo-Matsunoyama 'School in the Forest,' a nature science museum with a striking rusted-steel exterior where you can enjoyably learn about satoyama creatures and life in this heavy-snowfall region. In the afternoon, visit Matsunoyama Pool, which has a 25m x 13m pool (water depth 1.0-1.2m) and a 10m x 10m children's pool (water depth 0.5m), letting you swim leisurely in the clear mountain air. Beech forest, satoyama nature, and a quiet pool—this is a summer day in Matsunoyama, also known as a venue of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale.
