2026 Ogoto Rinsui Park Pool: A Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course centered on Ogoto Rinsui Park Pool (雄琴臨水公園プール) in Otsu City, open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, 2026. It's an outdoor pool with a 25m pool and a toddler pool, operated on a shift system from 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm (with a break from noon to 1pm). This course spends the morning exploring the surrounding area, then enters the pool for the afternoon session starting at 1pm. Admission is affordable at 490 yen for adults and 330 yen for children (junior-high age and under), people 65 and over, and people with disabilities. Start the morning at Hiyoshi Taisha (日吉大社), the head shrine of the more than 3,000 Hiyoshi, Hie, and Sanno shrines across Japan. Its expansive grounds, enclosed by stone walls built by the Ano masons (穴太衆) and ancient cedars, stay refreshingly cool even in midsummer. Next, head to Ukimido (Mangetsu-ji) (浮御堂(満月寺)), a hall that appears to float on Lake Biwa. The view from this lakeside hall has long been counted among the Eight Views of Omi (近江八景). In the afternoon, enjoy water play at Ogoto Rinsui Park Pool. It's a day that takes in both the history and the waterfront of the western shore of Lake Biwa.
