2026 Ikatachi Citizens' Pool Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on Otsu City's Ikatachi Citizens' Pool, open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, 2026. Since it operates on a rotating entry system from 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:00 (with a break from 12:00 to 13:00), it's easy to naturally structure the day with sightseeing in the morning and the pool in the afternoon. With both a 25-meter pool and a children's pool, kids who want to swim seriously and little ones making their water-play debut can all spend time in the same place, which is a big draw. Admission is 490 yen for adults and 330 yen for junior high school students, seniors, and people with disabilities, among others. In the morning, start at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mount Hiei Enryaku-ji Temple. At high elevation, the mountaintop is several degrees cooler than the city even in midsummer, and you can walk through the quiet temple grounds centered on the Konpon Chudo Hall of the Eastern Pagoda area. Next, stop by Michi-no-Eki Imoko no Sato and have an early lunch while browsing Omi-region ingredients. At 13:00, head to Ikatachi Citizens' Pool. It's a refreshing day that stays entirely within western Otsu, nestled between Mount Hiei and Lake Biwa.
