2026 Seiran Citizens' Pool One-Day Course
This one-day course centers on Otsu City's 'Seiran Citizens' Pool,' open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, 2026. The pool operates on a two-session changeover system, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Both a 25-meter pool and a children's pool are available, so kids who want to swim and little ones who are just getting used to the water can spend time together. Admission is 490 yen for general visitors and 330 yen for junior high school students, seniors, and people with disabilities. The venue is in the Ishiyama area, close to the Seta River. In the morning, cross Seta no Karahashi, counted among Japan's three great bridges, then visit Ishiyama-dera Temple, known for its ties to Murasaki Shikibu. The spacious grounds, home to a National Treasure main hall and two-story pagoda, are enveloped in trees and stay pleasantly cool for walking even in summer. After a break for lunch, head to the pool in time for the afternoon session and enjoy plenty of water play until 4:00 PM. A quintessential Otsu day, combining history and waterside fun in close proximity.
Schedule
Walk across a famous bridge over the Seta River and take in the river scenery
Walk the tree-lined grounds where the National Treasure main hall and two-story pagoda stand
Enjoy the afternoon session at the 25-meter pool and children's pool
