2026 Arao Citizens' Pool Full-Day Course
This one-day course is centered on Arao Citizens' Pool (荒尾市民プール), open from July 18 to August 16, 2026. The pool boasts an impressive lineup led by a 50-meter certified pool, along with a 25-meter pool, a relaxation pool, a children's pool, a pool for young children, and even a water slide. With this many options, everyone can find their own spot, whether you want to swim laps, float around, or you're a small child still wary of the water. Admission is affordable: 210 yen for adults, 150 yen for high school students, and 100 yen for children age 3 and up. In the morning, visit Manda Pit (万田坑), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Meiji-era coal mine's headframe and winding house remain as they were, letting you feel the power of a site that once supported modern Japan's industry. Next, move to Arao Tidal Flat (荒尾干潟), registered under the Ramsar Convention, and take in the vast tidal flats stretching across the Ariake Sea. Spend the afternoon splashing around at Arao Citizens' Pool (荒尾市民プール). This course links an industrial heritage site, a tidal flat, and water play in a single day.
