2026 Monomiyama Pool: A Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course centered on Monomiyama Pool (物見山プール) in Nomi City, typically open from July 20 to August 31, from 9:00am to 6:00pm. In the morning, head to Ishikawa Zoo (いしかわ動物園) — the only zoo in the prefecture, where elephants, tigers, and polar bears roam freely in spacious enclosures, letting you observe the animals' natural behavior up close. Next, head to the Nomi City Kutani Ware Art Museum (能美市九谷焼美術館), where vividly colored Kutani gosai (九谷五彩, five colors of Kutani) ceramics are on display, letting you experience the beauty of pottery nurtured by the land of Kaga. In the afternoon, head to Monomiyama Pool (物見山プール) at Monomiyama Sports Park. The main pool measures 25m by 15m (7 lanes) and the toddler pool 15m by 8m, and it's only open in summer. Since opening hours run long, from 9:00am to 6:00pm, you can head over at a relaxed pace in the afternoon and still have plenty of time to play. Enjoy Nomi City's two signature attractions — the zoo and Kutani ware — in the morning, then cool off in the afternoon at a pool surrounded by greenery. It's a day to fully enjoy the satoyama countryside of Kaga.
