2026 Hamakawa Outdoor Pool: A Full Day Out
This one-day course in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, centers on Hamakawa Outdoor Pool (浜川屋外プール), open from Tuesday, July 21 to Monday, August 31, 2026. The venue is Hamakawa Sports Park. With a 50m pool (9 lanes, 1.4-1.5m deep), a 25m pool (7 lanes, 1.0-1.1m deep), a 246m-long lazy river (0.9m deep), a kids' pool with a slide (0.6-0.7m deep), and a toddler pool with a slide (0.04-0.35m deep), it offers five different pool types — one of the most complete facilities in the prefecture. It operates in timed sessions, 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm. Admission is 320 yen for high schoolers and up, 150 yen for junior high schoolers and younger, and coin lockers cost 50 yen. The morning starts at Shorinzan Darumaji Temple (少林山達磨寺), known as the birthplace of the Takasaki Daruma, where rows of dedicated daruma dolls line the temple grounds. Next, head to Takasaki Byakue Daikannon (高崎白衣大観音), where you can look up at the 41.8m-tall Kannon statue, climb up through its interior, and take in the Kanto Plain from the observation windows. Daruma, Kannon, and a full day of water play — a day that feels distinctly Takasaki.
