2026 Full-Day Course: Yoshinogawa Natsumi Campground
This full-day course centers on the 'Yoshinogawa Natsumi Campground Riverside Free Site' (吉野川なつみキャンプ場 河川フリーサイト), spread along the banks of the Yoshino River in Natsumi, Yoshino Town, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture. The seasonal operating period runs from Marine Day through the end of August, on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and the Obon period; Marine Day in 2026 falls on July 20. This is a river-play spot worth planning around a summer weekend. The Riverside Free Site faces directly onto the Yoshino River, and its big appeal is the stretch of shallows and gentle currents suited to families. By choosing spots with less depth, even small children can dip their feet, arrange stones, or dam up the flow, enjoying the water at their own pace. With flush toilets and heated toilet seats available, families with small children can spend the day with peace of mind. The free site's usage hours run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and it's nice to be able to settle onto the riverbank at a relaxed pace from morning to evening. In the morning, visit the World Heritage Zao-do Hall at Kinpusen-ji Temple and Miyataki, a scenic spot known since the Manyoshu era, then head to the Yoshino River in the afternoon when the sun is highest. A summer day that lets you experience history and a clear stream in one continuous flow — this is Nara at its finest.
