2026 Shakunage no Mori River Park Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course centered on Shakunage no Mori River Park (Summer Yamame Festival), the venue for the 'Summer Yamame Festival, 24th Edition,' held from Friday, July 18 through Monday, August 31, 2026, from 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry 16:00). The venue is in Mimata Town, Kitamorokata District, Miyazaki Prefecture, inside Shakunage no Mori, known as one of Japan's largest azalea/rhododendron parks, with the river park spread along the Okimizu River. A major feature is the lineup of programs that go beyond simply getting into the water, including yamame trout fishing, catching yamame trout barehanded, an exciting river-swimming session, and a safety class. Life jackets are available for rent, and a safety class is also held, taught by 'Rescue 3,' specialists in water rescue, so even first-time river play can be enjoyed with peace of mind. It's a managed river-play area equipped with a reception desk and a restaurant, which is reassuring for families with less to worry about regarding restrooms and meals. The event runs daily throughout the period, except in severe weather such as typhoons or heavy rain. The flow of the day has you enjoying the highland breeze in the morning at Kamikome Park and Shiibae Park in Mimata Town, then spending a generous afternoon at the river. Eating a fish you caught yourself is an experience unique to summer vacation, and it's waiting for you here.
