2026 Hakone Museum of Art Autumn Leaves Full-Day Course

Spend a day savoring some of Hakone's finest autumn foliage at Hakone Museum of Art (箱根美術館), home to the nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty garden 'Shinsen-kyo' (神仙郷). The leaves are typically at their best from mid to late November. The moss garden, covered by about 130 species of moss, is planted with more than 200 maple trees, and the contrast between the green carpet and the red foliage is a sight found nowhere else. In the morning, walk from Gora Station (強羅駅), the terminus of the Hakone Tozan Railway, and enjoy some time at Hakone Gora Park (箱根強羅公園) with its fountain and seasonal flowers. In the afternoon, head to Hakone Museum of Art at last. Admission is 1,430 yen for adults and 660 yen for high school and university students, with junior high school students and younger free; open 9:30-16:30 (last entry 16:00). Note that in 2026 the museum will be closed for renovation and is scheduled to reopen on October 30, so please check the official website for the latest opening status before you go.
