Spend a day enjoying autumn leaves filling your car windows on the Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone, a driveway that climbs from Odawara up to Daikanzan in Hakone. The autumn foliage is typically at its best from early to late November. The toll is 900 yen for regular cars (Hakone-Odawara Main Line, 13.8km), and operating hours are 5:30-22:30. From the Sky Lounge at the terminus, Daikanzan (elevation 1,011m), you can take in a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji and Sagami Bay beyond Lake Ashi.
