2026 Sankeien Garden Autumn Leaves Full-Day Course
Enjoy a day of autumn leaves at Sankeien Garden (三溪園), a Japanese garden where you can experience a Kyoto-like autumn without leaving Yokohama. The best viewing period usually runs from late November to mid-December, when the ginkgo trees turn golden and the maples turn crimson, with a viewpoint offering views of the three-story pagoda alongside the autumn colors. A treat available only during the autumn leaves season is the special opening of the walking path behind the Important Cultural Property Choshukaku (聴秋閣). The roughly 5-minute stone-step loop offers a special view looking down on Choshukaku and the autumn leaves (in 2025 it ran from November 21 to December 14; the 2026 dates have not yet been announced, so please check the official website). Admission is 900 yen for adults and 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and the walking path is included with regular admission at no extra charge. In the morning, enjoy the view of Yokohama Port at Harbor View Park (港の見える丘公園), and in the afternoon take a leisurely autumn leaves stroll through Sankeien Garden. It's a greedy autumn course that lets you walk through both Western and Japanese Yokohama in a single day.
