2026 Full-Day Course: Autumn Leaves at Manyo Park (万葉公園)
Spend a day enjoying the mountain stream and autumn foliage at Manyo Park (万葉公園), nestled beside the hot spring town of Yugawara Onsen (湯河原温泉). The leaves are typically at their best from late November through early December. Maples turn color along the Chitose River (千歳川); the area toward Oku-Yugawara becomes the 'Red Tunnel of Maples,' and a new spot called 'Maple Village' has emerged along the Ikemine Hiking Course (池峯ハイキングコース). Admission is free and open to all. The entrance terrace inside the park has a tourist information center and a cafe (10:00-17:30, closed the second Tuesday of each month), so you'll always have a place to rest. In the morning, head from Yugawara Station to Fudo Falls (不動滝), a renowned waterfall deep in the hot spring town. In the afternoon, take a slow autumn-leaf walk at Manyo Park while listening to the murmur of the river. In 2025, the town-run Yugawara Museum of Art (町立湯河原美術館), adjacent to the park, held a 'Maple Light-Up & Night Museum' event (the 2026 schedule has not yet been announced - please check the official website before you go). This course lets you walk through a quiet, gentle autumn in a hot spring town.
