2026 Autumn Leaves at Kosoku-ji Temple: A Full-Day Course
Spend a quiet day enjoying autumn leaves at Kosoku-ji Temple, a flower temple in Hase, Kamakura. The leaves are typically at their best from late November to early December. The biggest highlight is the large Japanese maple just past the mountain gate, its canopy of crimson leaves overhead is beautiful enough to stop you in your tracks. The admission fee is friendly for families too, 100 yen for adults and free for elementary and junior high school students. Also known for its Chinese flowering crabapple and hydrangeas, this flower temple offers a calm atmosphere within its grounds, even though it sits in the bustling Hase area popular with tourists. It is a 6-minute walk from Hase Station on the Enoden line. Visit the Great Buddha of Kamakura (Kotoku-in), also in Hase, in the morning, then head to Kosoku-ji Temple in the afternoon. This course lets you experience both faces of Kamakura, lively and tranquil, on foot.
