2026 Full-Day Autumn Leaves Course at Myohon-ji Temple
Spend a day savoring late-autumn Kamakura at Myohon-ji Temple (妙本寺), tucked into a wooded valley just a short walk from Kamakura Station. The best viewing period is usually from late November to mid-December, making it one of the temples in Kamakura where the leaves stay colorful the longest. In 2025, the maples along the approach, around the Niten-mon Gate, and beside the Founder's Hall were still at their peak as of December 25. The autumn colors woven together by the maples along the approach to the Niten-mon Gate and the ginkgo trees across the valley grounds can be enjoyed in a stillness that feels surprising for a spot so close to the station. In the morning, enjoy classic Kamakura-style snacking and shopping on Komachi-dori (小町通り), and in the afternoon take a leisurely stroll to admire the autumn leaves at Myohon-ji Temple. This course is perfect for families who want to experience a calm, peaceful autumn away from the crowds of Kamakura.
