2026 Odawara Castle Ruins Park Autumn Foliage: A Full-Day Course
A classic Odawara autumn stroll where you can enjoy the pairing of the white castle keep and autumn foliage. Odawara Castle Ruins Park (小田原城址公園) usually reaches peak color from late November to early December. About 200 maple and ginkgo trees in the park turn brilliant colors, and the foliage set against the castle keep makes for a picture-perfect scene. Admission to the park is free; climbing the castle keep costs 1,000 yen for adults and 300 yen for elementary and junior high school students. During the peak foliage season, the park has a track record of illuminating from around 17:00 to 21:00 (please check official announcements for the 2026 schedule). In the morning, take the Hakone Tozan Line one stop to Kazamatsuri (風祭), home to Suzuhiro Kamaboko no Sato (鈴廣かまぼこの里). After watching artisans at work in the Kamaboko Museum, spend the afternoon soaking up the autumn colors at Odawara Castle Ruins Park. This course can be completed entirely on foot from the stations, making it a great choice for train-loving families.
