2026 Kosugezawa Bridge Autumn Leaves: A Full-Day Course
Spend a day having quiet autumn foliage all to yourselves in the mountains of Yamakita, sometimes called a hidden gem of Kanagawa. Kosugezawa Bridge (小菅沢橋) is a little-known autumn-leaf spot in the Kurokura area (玄倉), deep beyond Lake Tanzawa (丹沢湖). Viewing is free and open to anyone, and parking is free as well. Park your car at the former Lake Tanzawa Visitor Center and walk about 15 to 20 minutes along the forest road to reach the bridge. You can enjoy two views: the autumn leaves filling the valley as seen from atop the bridge, and the leaves seen looking up after descending from the foot of the bridge. In the morning, visit the D52 steam locomotive at the railway park in front of Yamakita Station (山北駅), take a break on the shore of Lake Tanzawa (丹沢湖), and then head to Kosugezawa Bridge (小菅沢橋) during the autumn coloring season. This is a course for walking with the family through a quiet mountain autumn, quite different from the bustle of famous tourist spots.
