2026 Autumn Leaves at Kawasaki Municipal Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum: A Full-Day Course
This is a day to encounter Japan's classic scenery, where thatched-roof old farmhouses and autumn leaves come together. The Kawasaki Municipal Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum (川崎市立日本民家園), located within Ikuta Ryokuchi Park (生田緑地), is an open-air museum featuring old farmhouses relocated from various parts of eastern Japan. The autumn leaves are typically at their best from late November to early December, and the sight of Japanese maple coloring the thatched roofs of the old farmhouses can be seen nowhere else. Admission is an affordable 550 yen for adults, 330 yen for high school and university students and those 65 and older, and free for junior high school students and younger, making it family-friendly. In past years, the 'Night at the Folk House Museum - Maple Leaves and Old Farmhouses Lit Up -' event has typically been held mainly on weekends in late November (please check the official announcement for 2026 dates). Spend the morning at the science museum within the same Ikuta Ryokuchi Park, then relax at the Folk House Museum in the afternoon - a course that lets you spend the whole day within Ikuta Ryokuchi Park.
