2026 Autumn Leaves at Kenchoji Temple: A Full-Day Course
Spend a day savoring the autumn leaves at Kenchoji Temple, the top-ranked Zen temple among Kamakura's Five Mountains. The leaves are typically at their best from late November to mid-December. The biggest highlights within the grounds are the ginkgo and maple trees along the approach to Hansobo Shrine and the autumn foliage around Mushizuka, where you can take your time enjoying the contrast between the solemn temple buildings and the autumn colors. Admission is 500 yen for high school students and up, and 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students. In the morning, stroll along Komachi-dori from Kamakura Station and visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, then spend the afternoon fully enjoying the autumn leaves at Kenchoji Temple. This is a classic Kamakura autumn day course that you can walk with children.
