2026 Autumn Leaves at Hinata Yakushi: A Full-Day Course
Spend a day savoring mountain-village autumn at Hinata Yakushi (日向薬師), an ancient temple in Isehara counted among Japan's three great Yakushi temples. Hinata Yakushi is known for its beautiful fresh greenery in spring and colorful foliage in autumn, and during the autumn season the cedar-lined approach and mountain trees take on a deeper charm. Access is about a 25-minute bus ride from the north exit of Isehara Station, then about a 15-minute walk along the approach from the terminal stop. Along the way, in the village of Hinata, you can also stop by Jouhotsuganji Temple (浄発願寺), where a three-story pagoda stands among the mountains. This is a quietly charming autumn course for a leisurely walk with your children, taking in the thatched-roof main hall of Hojobo (宝城坊) and the calm air of a mountain village.
