2026 Autumn Leaves at Nihon Odori: A Full-Day Course
Spend a day enjoying the golden ginkgo tree-lined avenue of Nihon Odori (日本大通り), the street running through Yokohama's government district. The best viewing season typically runs from mid-November to early December. The contrast between the ginkgo trees and historic buildings, including the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Building and the other Yokohama Three Towers, is a signature sight, and you can also spend a luxurious time viewing the trees from an open-air cafe along the street. Since it's a public road, viewing is free. In the morning, stroll through Yamashita Park (山下公園) while taking in the sea, pass through Zou-no-Hana Park (象の鼻パーク), which preserves the history of the port's opening, and head to Nihon Odori (日本大通り) in the afternoon. During the Christmas season, illuminations of the ginkgo tree-lined avenue have been held in past years (the 2026 schedule has not yet been announced, so please check official information before visiting). This is an autumn-leaves course for walking enthusiasts that is also easy to get around with a stroller.
