2026 Full-Day Course: Autumn Colors at Aruka Shrine (有鹿神社)
This is a day spent walking through Ebina's history, centered on Aruka Shrine (有鹿神社), one of the oldest Engishiki-listed shrines in Sagami Province. The shrine's main sanctuary sits in Kamigo, Ebina City, where the Hato River flows into the Sagami River, and large zelkova, hackberry, and ginkgo trees tower over the sacred grove, Aruka no Mori (有鹿の森), on the north side of the grounds. During the autumn foliage season, you can enjoy the deep colors unique to this guardian forest. In the morning, look up at the replica seven-story pagoda in Ebina Central Park (海老名中央公園) in front of Ebina Station, then reflect on ancient Ebina at the nationally designated historic site, the Sagami Kokubunji Temple Ruins (相模国分寺跡), before heading to Aruka Shrine (有鹿神社) in the afternoon. With a compact route you can walk from the station, this course lets you rediscover local history together with your children.
