2026 Autumn Leaves at Matsunaga Memorial Hall: A Full-Day Course
This is a day to quietly savor the autumn leaves of a Japanese garden at the Matsunaga Memorial Hall (松永記念館) in Itabashi, Odawara. The former residence of Yasuzaemon Matsunaga, the businessman known as the 'Power King', features the nationally registered tangible cultural property teahouse 'Roukyakuso' (老欅荘), around which maples typically turn color from late November to early December. The garden is a renowned one selected as one of Japan's '100 Historic Parks', and admission to the exhibition room is free. In the morning, walk from Odawara Station through Odawara Castle Ruins Park to enjoy the autumn of the castle town beneath its towering keep, then head to the Matsunaga Memorial Hall in Itabashi in the afternoon. Rather than flashiness, this course lets you savor the quiet presence of the garden and teahouse - an autumn course in Odawara that calms the heart for adults and children alike.
